Sr Anne Montgomery died August 27 - One of the first Plowshares 8, and still active in the plowshares until her death

Sr Anne Montgomery passed away August 27. She was part of the first plowshares action, Plowshares 8, 1980, and of quite a few plowshares actions after that.

I did my first plowshares action together with her and Pershing Plowshares in 1984, I think it was her third. When we met in holdings cells around court hearings, I remember her attitude towards guards as firm and friendly, she taught me a no-excuses-resistance which I try to share here in Sweden! This Saturday two days before she passed away, I mentioned her as my main nonviolent-model in an exercise during the Swedish Nonviolent Camp (organized by Swedish FOR, and the Fig Tree Community-a Jona House and Catholic Worker community in Gothenburg).

Peace, love and resistance,
Per Herngren
from Pershing Plowshares, and a few plowshares actions in Europe
